Lana del rey - Burnt Norton (Interlude) 【拙訳】
曲と曲をつなぐ間奏曲ですが、調べてみたところ英国人作家T.S.Eliot著による「Four Quartets」第一節の詩のようです。多々翻訳はありますが、彼女がなぜこの詩をアルバムに挟んだのか、自分なりの訳を考えてみます。
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden
現在、過去
おそらく双方とも未来と共にあり
未来は過去に包まれていたのだ
